La Crosse County utilizes the practice of placing the address points at the end of a driveway not on the building structure. Structures may be in a different address range than the end of the driveway leading to the structure and this should be considered when using the data. La Crosse County also utilizes the prefix direction designation of N and W with the numeric address value for rural addresses. Although this is a prefix there should not be a space between the prefix and the numeric value. Example: N456 County Highway M not N 456 County Highway M. The data also has attribute names "Legacy". These refer to the way the data is/was in the Master Street Address Guide (MSAG). When La Crosse County adopted the state NG9-1-1 standards the road types such as County Highway may have previously been know as County Road or County Trunk. State Highway may have been known previously as State Road. The key field attribute information to be utilized for labeling by those downloading the data would be as follows.
FullStNm - Full Street Name
abFullStNm - Abbreviated Full Street Name
LSt_Name – Legacy Street Name
AddNum_Pre – Address Number Prefix
Add_Number - Address Number
Info regarding the details of any of the other attribute fields that are not self-evident can be found at the Wisconsin State Next Generation 911 website included in the credits or through the Land Information Department staff by referencing the SAP, NG911 or the Central Square CAD product.
